Our story
Over the past 20+ years of traveling the world to tell stories, I’ve noticed the same thing again and again: there are always more meaningful stories than there are people equipped to tell them. Nearly every assignment introduces me to powerful moments that deserve to be shared but often go untold.
Years ago, during a phone drive to support pastors in Togo, I had a realization that changed how I saw storytelling. We were simply trying to provide basic tools to capture photos in the field, but the donated phones weren’t outdated or broken - they were modern smartphones with incredible cameras. Even in remote areas, people already had access to powerful filmmaking tools. The real gap wasn’t equipment. It was knowing how to use what was already in their hands.
I started Smartphone Storytellers to meet people where they are and help them tell meaningful stories using the phone they already carry. My goal is simple: equip people to recognize the stories unfolding around them and share real moments of life change within their organizations and communities.

I believe people learn storytelling best by doing it - by learning the basics, making mistakes, and trying again. That’s why my teaching focuses on practical tools and clear frameworks that help people start where they are and grow with confidence.

I share regular teaching on YouTube, offering practical guidance for storytelling, filming, and editing using the tools people already have. These lessons are designed to be accessible, actionable, and easy to apply right away.
